The ABCs of The Bookworm Wife

Editor’s Note:  We finished the half marathon!  I have an epic recap post coming complete with a special video, but I haven’t had a chance to do it justice yet.  Be patient, be patient.  Here’s a sneak peek:

HM

In the meantime, everyone and their MOTHER has done this ABCs thing, so read this to make up for no recap post yet!

A. Age:  28

B. Bed size:  Queen.  But I cannot wait to get a king, because of this:

 Sleeping Arrangements

I am a self-professed bed hog and CC likes to sleep in between us.   Like a human.  With her head on my pillow, usually.  In the winter when it’s really cold she actually tucks herself under the covers like a human…it’s pretty funny and cute, though The Pharmacist would disagree.  And yes, I did just post this nasty picture of me sleeping on the Interwebs for all to see.  You’re welcome.

C. Chore you hate:  Cleaning the shower.  I am a pretty clean person but I hate this chore.  I won’t do it until our shower is absolutely and totally disgusting.  It’s getting to that point now, actually.  Ugh.

D. Dogs:  Not yet but I want one of these guys SO BADLY!

Fury
(Source is Greyhounds Only, a GREYT resource for learning about these dogs!
They do adoptions in Illinois and Wisconsin.
This dog is named Fury and he is available for adoption right now!)

I’ve done a ton of research on greyhounds and basically they are like the dog’s version of a cat.  They sleep up to 18 hours a day and are really big couch potatoes!  Nobody knows that because they equate them with racing, but in truth greyhounds need no more or less exercise than any other type of dog.  I LOVE THEM.

E. Essential start to your day:  COFFEE.  With high fructose corn syrup infected Coffee-Mate French Vanilla Creamer.  I know that ish is bad for you but it’s my one vice and I am not giving it up.

F. Favorite color:  RED.  Even before this awesome school was my alma mater!

Source.  It is the TRUTH, yo!

G. Gold or silver:  Silver

H. Height: 5’3.  Shorty McShortster in da haus!

I. Instruments you play:  Get ready for this.  I play flute (ok, not so abnormal), piano (also not so abnormal) and dun dun dunnnnnnn…the BASSOON!  Yes, I play the bassoon.  It looks like this:

Bassoon  Bassoon 2

(Source for above left, Source for above right)

And sounds like this:

Peter & the Wolf made bassoons kinda famous because they are main components the ish on those tracks.

Technically, I haven’t picked up any of these three in years but I like to think it’s like riding a bike.

The story goes like this:  I played flute from 5th grade on.  When I got to high school, our band director said we needed some people to play bassoon and oboe for orchestra and that the school would pay for our lessons and instrument rental if we switched instruments.  I jumped on that opportunity and had a BLAST playing this cool instrument.  Basically, I played flute during pep band and bassoon for everything else (orchestra, German band—oh yes, I was in a German Band, the Junge Kameradan.  Story for another day!).  I learned piano separately for a few years but DESPERATELY want to start to play again.

J. Job title:  Business Manager.  Which is another way to say, The Chick Who Does Everything.  Insurance, taxes, payroll, bills, invoicing, monthly financial statements, marketing, order processing…you name it I do it.

K. Kids:  Not yet!  Maybe 2-4 someday.  We’ll see how I feel after 2.

L. Live:  Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  AKA:

(Source—I really love that Sconnie website today I guess!)

M. Mom’s name:  Patricia but she goes by Patti.  Hi Mom!

N. Nicknames:  Ames, Famous, Ame-ster.  But don’t call me that last one.  My old boss used to call me that and I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT.  My friend TD once called me that jokingly and the next second got the worst cramp of his life in his leg.  It was God striking him down for calling me Ame-ster.  Use at your own risk.

O. Overnight hospital stays:  None that I remember!

P. Pet peeve:  Don’t you know me by now?!  I have, like, a gazillion.  Most are driving related and probably require a post of their own.

Q. Quote from a movie:

“How can I be getting zis vork done wit all de shouting? Control de shouting?  Heinz Getwellvet. I am trainer of dolphins. You want to talk to de dolphin, you talk to me.  Vat happened to him? Vat happened to me? Seven years I am wit Siegfried.  [holds up only four fingers]  Ve are making de dolphins disappear, und den Roy is coming wit de vite tiger und ze shtuffing in de pants und den I’m gone.  Why do you care about Snowflake? Do you know him? Does he call you at home?   Do you have a dorsal fin? To train ze dolphin you must zink like ze dolphin! You must be getting inside ze dolphin’s head. I am saying to Snowflake, "Akay!… Akay Akay Akay?" und he is saying "AKay Akay!" und he is up on ze tail "Eeeeeeeeee!" und you can quote him!  [spits] Go to de conference, go to it.”

I can do this entire monologue on command.  It is a GREAT party trick.  Name the movie!

R. Right or left handed:  Right handed.

S. Siblings: UPDATE!  I forget that I am lucky enough to have  A BROTHER now!  Hooray for my brother-in-law Jeff.  So, the real answer to this question is that I have one AWESOME little sister, Ali AND a super cool brother-in-law, Jeff.

T. Time you wake up: 7:00ish.  I should wake up earlier and my alarm goes off at like 6:30, but I am NOT a morning person.  Usually I roll out of bed between 7:15 and 7:20.  Oops.

U. Underwear:  Yes please?

V. Vegetables you dislike:  I hate vegetables.  I wouldn’t eat them but I know they are good for you so I do.  I don’t really dislike any, I just don’t want to eat them.  I am afraid of brussel sprouts.

W.What makes you run late:  I don’t run late.  It’s a pet peeve of mine.

X. X-Rays you’ve had:  Mostly on my feet.  For tendonitis, etc.  when I was training for the marathon.  I’ve also had my hand x-rayed when I slammed my thumb in a minivan door, and my wrist x-rayed when I had an unfortunate incident roller-blading.

Y. Yummy food you make:  RISOTTO.  I am planning an EPIC post on this but it is my specialty.  I LOVE making it!

Z. Zoo- favorite animal:  Personally, I’m a big fan of the rodents.  I LOVE the prairie dogs.  Super cute.  I don’t have a good pic of the prairie dogs but I do have a good pic of the other zoo animal I love:  the random chipmunks (or chippys, as I call them) that can always be found running around the zoo.   Technically, they’re not even a real zoo animal, but whatevs.  I think I like these guys the best because in truth, zoos make me kind of sad.  I know they are all about eco-conservation and such, but I always feel bad for the animals that belong in Africa who are stuck here…in Wisconsin.  I think that’s why I like the rodents—this is a natural habitat for them!

Chippy

(Can you spot the Chippy?)

So, there you have it, the ABCs of me!  Any questions?!

Aaaawwwww you and your kitty sleeping is probably the cutest thing ever!! Our cats sleep near us but not necessarily ON us. Well, in the morning when Joey wants attention he sleeps on my head, but other than that they’re ok.

Also, the same poster for Wisconsin could be used for Ohio (University, not State).

Greyhounds are AWESOME and you are totally right in your description of their personality. And there are so many that need rescue after they ‘retire’ from racing. Hope you are able to get one soon! :)

I LOVE greyhounds…love them. They’re so awesome — two of my bosses have them and rave about them all the time! (Also, I haven’t watched your recap video from the 1/2 marathon yet, but I will soon!)
