10 in 100.
I love the idea of those “101 things in 1001 days” lists. I’ve always wanted to make one, but I get to about 30 things and feel really overwhelmed. So when my friend Andi posted about creating a 10 in 100 days list to help her accomplish some of her 2011 goals over the summer, I thought, What a great idea! And I knew exactly what I wanted to focus on in my 10 in 100 list: making the most of our neighborhood.
We live in a fantastic area of the city. We’re close to (in fact, it’s practically part of) downtown and some amazing shops, restaurants, galleries, etc. We LOVE it down here, but truth be told, as I think is the case for a lot of people, we just don’t take advantage of all that we’re able to see and do here. One of my 2011 goals is to “Explore our neighborhood more and really take advantage of our surroundings,” and we have been sorely lacking in that department as of late. So my 10 in 100 list all revolves around things to do in our neighborhood and the surrounding areas. As I accomplish them (in no particular order) over the next 100 days, I’ll do a post on each!
Start Date: Friday, May 6, 2011
End Date: Tuesday, August 16, 2011
1. Host or attend a party on the Pedal Tavern.
2. Go to Jazz in the Park & have a picnic using our new picnic supplies we received as wedding gifts!
3. Visit the Milwaukee Art Museum.
4. Go to the Easttown Farmer’s Market.
5. Attend at least one new festival (this will be tough for me—we go to SO many!).
6. Visit at least two restaurants in the neighborhood that we’ve never been to before. (I’m visiting a new one tonight!)
7. Spend a day thrifting & window-shopping at all the cool shops in the Third Ward.
8. Have a meal AT the Milwaukee Public Market.
9. Attend a Gallery Night event.
10. Walk to Alterra at the Lake for coffee on a leisurely Saturday morning.

Have you made a 101 in 1001 list? How much have you accomplished so far?

You could knock off No. 1 at my bachelorette party, perhaps. It’s in the running for things to do after the Brewers game.
I love your list, btw. It makes me wish we lived in Milwaukee so I could help you cross off all those fun things.
OH MAN KAYLA SET IT UP!!!! That would be so fun.
Greg and I made one a while ago — we def need to revisit because I think the 1001 is coming to an end soon. It would be fun to see what we did … and didn’t do! I know one was def “get pregnant” and BAM check that one off. haha
These all look like such fun adventures!
This is a great list! We almost did the Pedal Tavern for my bachelorette party, but then I decided I wanted to dress up a bit / wear heels and that wasn’t conducive to pedaling a bike. BUT! It looks like so much fun.
The Milwaukee Public Market is wonderful! Let me know if you find any good thrift stores in the area. I work right by the Market and would love to find some things to do during lunch hours!
Hi Mandy! There are a few thrift stores towards the south end of Broadway–there is a Goodwill Retique (boutique Goodwill, so more upscale goods) as well as a few women’s thrift & consignment shops towards the end of the street (near the theater and such).
And I LOVE the Public Market! We shop there a lot but we never go in just to sit down and eat!
I love lists…A LOT! I enjoy the longer 101 list because I could put lots of things I knew I couldn’t do now. But I love this one so much because I have so much I want to finish by the end of the summer and don’t always push myself. Wohoo. Another list!
Okay, 10 in 100 I could do. I have waaay too short of an attention to span to come up with 101 things, plus I change my mind too often to stick to much! I like your list, I like your town (Pedal Tavern?).
Ooooh wait to do the shopping in Third Ward one and the coffee one on the lake for when I visit, pleaaaase!
All the reasons I’m sad I lived in MKE before I turned 21 (I fled back to Florida, my home state, the moment I graduated from Nicolet). How amazing it would be if I could have enjoyed ALL of these things while I was living there!
Although I do love the fests, the 3rd ward, Public Market and the museum (although I have a soft spot in my heart for the old one). Oh and I LOVE Alterra. The original is right near where I grew up (in the Bayshore mall) so I grew up on their dreamcisles. Ah-Mazing.
It’s so fun to have another reader with Milwaukee roots!
