The 1o in 100 Finale
Tomorrow is the last day of my 10 in 100 Challenge! If you’ll remember, I picked 10 things I wanted to see and do in our neighborhood in 100 days. Time to see how I did!
Start Date: Friday, May 6, 2011
End Date: Tuesday, August 16, 2011
1. Host or attend a party on the Pedal Tavern.
Sadly, I did not get to do this. I tried to put something together but I didn’t get a lot of feedback from my friends, so it never happened. However, we DID have a Sunday Funday where we went to brunch and then hung out at Barnacle Bud’s, which is apparently a Milwaukee staple. I had never been there before so I am calling that a win for this category!
2. Go to Jazz in the Park & have a picnic using our new picnic supplies we received as wedding gifts!
Not yet. There are still a few more Jazzs left though, so I am hoping we get to at least one.
3. Visit the Milwaukee Art Museum.
Nope.
4. Go to the East Town Farmer’s Market.
Finally, something I DID do! I have gone to the East Town Farmer’s Market a few times now. Honestly, it’s not impressive. There aren’t a lot of booths and I think I am spoiled because I lived right near the HUGE Madison Farmer’s Market for so many years. But I did buy this awesome print at the East Town Market!
5. Attend at least one new festival (this will be tough for me—we go to SO many!).
We figured out that we have actually been to every festival at the festival grounds near our house. So instead of trying to GO to a new one, we tried to NOT go to one. We missed Festa Italiana this year…sad!
6. Visit at least two restaurants in the neighborhood that we’ve never been to before.
Yes! I actually went to three new restaurants during this time frame. We had dinner at Screaming Tuna with my sister, tried an old school Italian place in Riverwest, and had brunch at the brand new Café Benelux in our neighborhood (and LOVED it. Easily my new favorite restaurant). So this was a definite WIN.
7. Spend a day thrifting & window-shopping at all the cool shops in the Third Ward.
Nope, but this is still on my list of things to do.
8. Have a meal AT the Milwaukee Public Market.
YES! Well, technically not a meal, but we have been exploring more. We went one Sunday afternoon for a glass of wine together and went on another Saturday for a beer. It was really fun and made me want to go to the Market more often.
9. Attend a Gallery Night event.
No…and honestly, I don’t know if we will get to one of these. It’s one of those things that kind of interests us, but I am not sure if it’s enough to get up the gumption to go look at expensive art we can’t afford.
10. Walk to Alterra at the Lake for coffee on a leisurely Saturday morning.
No…but definitely still want to do this—I am thinking during the fall, it would be nice to take a brisk chilly walk down there and have coffee.
Alright, so I didn’t accomplish a lot on this list. But I did do some other fun things this summer!
Like attempting to waterski…
Standing up as the matron of honor in my best friend’s wedding…
Hiking up north…
And a lot more stuff I can’t think of right now! I still have to update on my summer to-do list, so I’m sure you’ll hear more about our summer adventures then. It has been a busy summer to say the least, but I’m ready for some fall!
So, how about you? What did you do this summer?

It looks like you had a fun summer, and did manage to do some of the things on your list! Our summers are so short / jam packed with things on the weekends that it’s hard to get everything checked off on your list. We’ve been wanting to try out Café Benelux – glad to hear that you enjoyed it!
That’s am amazing idea!! I know summer’s coming to an end, but I still think it’s a good idea to do it during the fall; I think I’m going to do something similar, before it gets too cold.
I should really maybe take my blog down, huh? Its over a year old since I last did anything…i dont even remember the password
Great post…I will wake with you to Alterra some brisk Fall morning for a steamy cup of joe!
Oh, I’ve done a lot on your list! (Some even this past summer during my four day whirlwind in Milwaukee!) I think the walking to Alterra is the best one on your list – get a dreamsicle just for me!
You could EASILY call me to go w/ you on at least 5 of these. That, and number #11 is that I still owe you and the Valley Lover dinner. Alterra on a Saturday morning, Pedal Tavern, Art Museum and Jazz In the Park are right up my alley. I blame Scott Walker on all of this.
Well let’s go to Jazz in the Park sometime!!
