Meet Reggie!
This past weekend, I got a belated birthday present. No, it wasn’t another Packers trip to the NFC Championship (booooooooooooo). It was this little guy!
Reggie is a 5 month old black domestic long hair. Although, he has some gray hair on his underside and towards his rear, so I’m wondering if he is really going to be a black cat or if that color will change and grow as he gets a little older. We got him from the Wisconsin Humane Society and I was so happy to bring him home! When we visited him there, he started purring immediately when I was petting him, and then he rolled over to show me his belly (a sign that the cat trusts you, as that is their most vulnerable position). Well, that was it for me, I knew we had to take him home.
Here you can kind of see his gray color. One thing I’ve learned in the last two days? Black cats are not exactly photogenic, and since Reg is still getting used to his surroundings, I haven’t snapped as many pictures to showcase his supreme cuteness as of yet. But he is SOOOOOO cute and he is a purring machine—we’ve taken to calling him Motor Man when he purrs because that’s exactly what it sounds like. It’s so loud!
Perhaps I should really vacuum under the bed before we take cat pictures, haha.
He likes under our bed best, but he’s slowly getting used to his surroundings so it’s only a matter of time before he’s running the household, I’m sure.
He was pretty sad about the Packers loss on Sunday, as he’s named after this Packer great:
That’s the venerable Reggie White, #92. He was a defensive end for the Green Bay Packers for many years and became one of the most decorated players in NFL history. Amongst other accolades, he was a two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and holds 2nd place all-time amongst career sack leaders with 198.5. Sadly, he past away in 2004. He was posthumously elected to the NFL Hall of Fame and his number has also been retired at Lambeau Field. And there’s your football lesson of the day! He’s one of B’s favorite players, so the name choice was pretty easy!
ANYways, Reg was pretty bummed when the Pack lost yesterday. BUT he quickly got over it when we watched The Golden Globes!
He thought Kate Winslet was the best dressed, though he actually loved Angelina Jolie & Claire Danes’ dresses too.
You’ll have to forgive me for being THAT chick for the next few days. He’s just so dang cute, I am sure I will overload the blog and Twitter with pictures!
So, kitten-proofing and playing with Reggie was the extent of our weekend. What did you do?

Cuteness.
He is adorable. Make sure that you talk to him about little white dogs!!
I love him, I love him, I love him!! And I can see you do, too.
I absolutely love the name (and the significance behind it). Enjoy getting to know your new furbaby!!

Aww, yay for Reggie!! Congrats on a new kitty. And, I’m so glad you got him from a shelter too. He looks so precious! We were sad about the Packer loss at our house too since we don’t like the Giants at all.
Shelters are the only way to go, in my book! All of the pets both of our families have ever had were shelter pets…we will never buy!
