First of all, thank you so much for your kind comments, tweets and emails about our big news. We are so excited and your sweet words made it all the more special for us!
I thought I would do a quick FAQ post, just to lay out some of this pregnancy “groundwork” from the outset.
How far along are you? When are you due?
I am a little over 14 weeks and due Sunday, November 11. Which, coincidentally, is a Green Bay Packers bye week (for the un-sports fans out there, it means they’re not playing that week). Not that we sports-crazed enthusiasts were, uh, trying for that or anything. (No, seriously, we weren’t. But what a great coincidence for sports nuts like us, haha! And yes, we recognize that the chances of the baby coming on his/her actual due date are slim to none.)
Do you have pregnancy posts saved up from the first trimester?
Yes. And you will see them all start posting here starting this afternoon. I’ve got them set up to post around two a day until I’m all caught up, then I’ll post one update a week in real time. I decided to go in a different direction than the “usual” pregnancy posts, so I hope even those of you who AREN’T interested in that kind of thing will stick around to check them out.
Will you find out the sex?
Yes! We cannot wait! We both really want to know if we are having a boy or a girl. I think it’s a boy and B thinks it’s a girl. I’ve checked into the old wives’ tales and the results from those are pretty split too, haha. We should know in about 6 weeks or so!
Wait! I thought you were in the process of searching for a home to buy! What’s up with that?
Yes! We still are. I owe you all an update on our home search, so I’ll be posting more details soon.
No, we did not buy this house.
Great. Are you going to be an all-pregnancy-all-the-time blogger now?
No. I know the blog has been lacking posts lately, but I hope you all understand now WHY. And while I will definitely talk about being preggo here, I do hope to continue writing about other topics as well, including book reviews and the like.
Here’s a few things you’ll start to see here:
* Bump photos. I know some people hate them, but it’s something I want to preserve and share. I loved looking at them and reading preggo posts during my first trimester, so I’m definitely into sharing my pregnancy here.
*Candid, frank, & probably very opinionated discussions about a variety of pregnancy topics. Don’t worry, I promise not to piss anyone off. At least, I hope I won’t.
*Books reviews of the pregnancy and parenting books I’ve read. Again, not applicable to all of you, but hopefully helpful to some. I read all the books from my post yesterday during the first trimester, so now I am working my way through another huge stack (this one mostly parenting focused, rather than pregnancy focused). Also, don’t worry—I am still reading other books as well and plan to continue reviewing “regular” books!
As of right now, I’m not planning to post pictures of pee sticks, ultrasound photos, or a birth story. I would prefer not to have any of those things on the Internet. If we’re friends or family in real life and you’d like to see an ultrasound photo, I’d love to show them to you! But, I’m not comfortable with putting them on the Internet…just a personal preference of mine. Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind, yada, yada, yada, you get the picture.
So that pretty much covers all the bases for now. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask away! I’m pretty open about this stuff (though again, no uterus photos or
vagina monologues birth story).
We announced on Facebook yesterday, at about the same time I announced here. This was the announcement we used:
Idea from the lovely Mrs. Fix-It! Sorry I had to block out our last name. Also, a lot of people have been asking me about that onesie. I actually made it—I just used some iron on transfer paper and a pack of white onesies from the store. I designed the logo in Microsoft Word, then saved it as a jpeg and flipped it in Gimp (so that it would iron on correctly). Pretty easy!
So, tada! Now you know my big secret. And I can go back to blogging more regularly around here!
