The One Where I Worry Needlessly For A Week and Then Pass My 3-Hour Glucose Test.

August 21, 2012

Yeah, so that happened.

Passed

My numbers were:

Fasting: 60 [cut-off for normal is 95]
1 Hour Check: 120 [cut-off for normal is 180]
2 Hour Check: 108 [cut-off for normal is 155]
3 Hour Check: 103 [cut-off for normal is 140]

aka all well within the normal limits, and even kind of low.  Woo!

All in all, the three hour test wasn’t TOO bad.  I had to fast for about 12 hours the night before, so I just stopped eating after dinner.  I planned on going into the lab first thing in the morning, so as long as I was done eating by 8:00pm I was golden.  First, the lab tech took my blood to get my fasting level.  Then, I had to drink the same orange glucola drink, only this time it had twice as much glucose in it as drink for the one hour test.  After that, they took my blood every hour.  I felt kinda sick from the drink but once I ate afterwards it was no big deal.  My only real complaint is that normally they would alternate arms for the blood sticks, but the lab tech could only find a vein in my left arm one time!  So I had three sticks in my right arm and only one stick in my left arm.

Needless to say I am super relieved to have passed.  Bring on the cupcakes!

Don’t know what I’m talking about?  Read about how I failed my first glucose test here.

YAYY that’s great news. You were so close before I just knew it was a fluke (maybe due to eating.) Glad this one went better!
