If you like Laura Ingalls Wilder I would suggest Little House in the Big Woods. It’s the first of the series (they lived in a cabin before moving to the prairie). It’s my favorite LIW and I’ve read most of them (well my mom read them to me when I was younger). I also love On the Banks of Plum Creek.
Hi Debbie! Thanks for stopping by! I have actually read–and in fact, I own–all of the Little House books. I love them too!
And I just realized that book should have been listed as Little House in the Big Woods…I started re-reading them in order this year!
We read Little House in the Big Woods in 3rd grade and I collected all of them until late middle school! I had her series and her daughters and I think some pre-little woods books, too? I totally forgot about those books – I wonder if my mother still has them!
Did you read “Go Ask Alice” when you were a teen? If not, or even if you did, go read it. I re-read it this year and it was just as crazy to me today as it was then. Quick read too.
You MUST read the hunger games series. I didn’t think I would like them (because I had no idea what they were about) but they were awesome and such fast reads. I’m sad I finished them all!
You’re doing well. Do you listen to audio books as well as read hard copies? I find that helps me get through a lot of books. My goal is set at 60 (on goodreads.com) right now but I think I might bump it up to 100 when I hit that goal.
Did you like Sarah’s Key? I have it on my shelf, it’s waiting for me to read it. The Kitchen House, Water for Elephants, Trustee from the Toolroom, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet and Shanghai Girls were all excellent reads.
Thanks for all of the suggestions! I do not listen to audio books, but I really should because I LOVE talk radio on in the car (rather than just music–I prefer talk, actually). I will pick some up!
I loved Sarah’s Key. Very quick read–let me know what you think of it when you’re done!
I though about you when I finished this book today so I am here to recommend “Still Alice”

I really enjoyed it and hope you do too!
Ooh, thanks for the rec! I am adding it to my list!
